On the Caribbean has an island where you can cuddle pups on the beach.
Can you imagine a beautiful beach with white sand and turquoise water … and little puppies! Even if you want you can adopt a puppy. This beach is located on the islands of Turks & Caicos. The team of Potcake Place K9 Rescue led by Jane Parker-Rauw make this possible.
On the island there is not one shelter for dogs, so this organization of volunteers, rescues stray dogs since 2005. Currently they have about 50-60 puppies in their care, and annual host is almost 500 puppies all over the world. Puppies receive all necessary care and socialization until they find a home.
The tourists on the beach who want to adopt a puppy are given food and everything the little ones need in order quickly to socialize with them.
These breed of puppies even has its own name, The Potcakes. This term is given because citizens of this island, the remains of peas and rice are putting in pots in order to feed these stray dogs.
Weighing about 50 pounds, this breed is a mix between German Shepherd, Labrador and English Fox Terrier. Generally are very peaceful dogs with sweet faces and irresistible “potcake smile.”
